“If God has birthed a vision in your heart, the day will come when you will be called upon to make a sacrifice to achieve it. And you will have to make the sacrifice with no guarantee of success…Obey God at all costs. Hold your vision in an open hand. And watch for him to intervene. A true visionary does not try to control their vision – they pursue it.”

Andy Stanley in Visioneering; God’s Blueprint for Developing and Maintaining Vision

Emily and I read this quote during our phase II training. It has brought us much encouragement as we contemplate the next steps for our family. We just met with a Realtor about selling our house. In our minds this step has officially stepped us out into the unknown. It is extremely exciting and frightening at the same time. But we know that God is good and his faithfulness will always remain no matter what the future holds.

I wonder what this quote means in your life?

Finished Phase II!

We just got back from TEAM headquarters in Wheaton, IL and what is called our phase II training.

Phase II training was our week long initiation and orientation into all things TEAM. It was an intense week with meetings from 8am-7pm. However, as someone who has been in many, many meetings that were a waste of time I can honestly say that there was not one minute wasted.

Our plan was to have a plan after this training and it’s exciting to say that a plan has been formulated! We look forward to revealing that plan over the coming month.

Thirst in a dry and weary land….

I don’t know if you have ever been to a desert. I know I hadn’t till I first visited the Baja region of Mexico. It is a beautiful yet harsh landscape. It is a dry and dusty place where water is a precious commodity.  Visiting the Baja region gave me a better appreciation for the references to deserts and dry places in Scriptures.
Shown above  is the  playground area of Marquez de Leon, a village outside of La Paz. This swing captured my attention…alone and broken yet holding the potential for joy and laughter.
It is my prayer that we go not only to mend broken swings… but ultimately to mend broken hearts in a dry and weary land.
My prayer today for me and the people of Baja California Sur.
Invitation to the Thirsty

1 “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
